In memoriam, Dr. Eric Jaquay

Posted in Uncategorized

Dr. Eric Jaquay, who passed away in 2020, was one of the founding PhD students in our group. His scientific contributions built up our research on experimental optical trapping. Starting from scratch from an empty lab, Eric helped construct a method for grabbing tiny particles using the strong light fields near photonic crystals.

Eric was a much-loved presence in the lab, thanks in part to his sense of humor, efforts to learn Mandarin, and arm-wrestling contests. He will be greatly missed.
